The first vinyl pressing of Ese & The Vooduu People's second album "Mercury In Retrograde" comes in a high-gloss gatefold sleeve and is pressed on a lovely deep velvety purple coloured vinyl, manufactured in England by the Vinyl Factory in Hayes, just north-west of London.

The original high-resolution digital recording – a mixed but otherwise unedited capture of a March 2020 gig, just prior to lockdown – was mastered for vinyl using vintage analogue equipment by Caspar Sutton-Jones at Gearbox Records in London and cut by Caspar using Gearbox's famous 1967 Haeco-Scully lathe. We've kept the sides as short as possible to ensure better dynamic range and minimise inner groove distortion.

Each copy is hand-numbered and this first (non-signed and dedicated) edition will be limited to 475 copies worldwide.

Which number you get depends on when you order – numbers will be allocated strictly in the sequence that orders are received. Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
